When you use OvenMitts or any other product from Kilby Labs Inc. (“Kilby Labs,” “we,” or “us”), you share some information with us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your information. It applies to users, visitors, and all others who access our products and services, so we recommend reading the entire document.

Personal Information

OvenMitts requires you to set up an account, so we collect a few important details about you, such as your name and email address. We also receive an account identifier from the sign-in method you choose: Apple, Google, or email and password. You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app.

Screen Broadcasts

OvenMitts watches along with livestreams using your device’s screen broadcast feature. It can only see your screen after you start a broadcast, and you can stop it at any time. While a broadcast is running, your device shares your entire screen and in-app audio with the app, not just the livestream.

The app keeps a short rolling buffer of recent screen images and audio on your device. That buffer is continuously overwritten. When you ask OvenMitts to price an item, the app sends the following to our servers:

• a few recent screen images;
• about 15 seconds of the stream’s audio; and
• text read from the screen on your device.

We use these to identify the item and estimate its price, and we do not store the images or audio files. Text derived from them may be kept in our logs for a limited time. That text includes transcripts, item names, and prices.

If you use a voice feature, the app records your voice only while you are asking, and we handle that clip the same way.

Your price history and the images of items you have priced are stored on your device, not on our servers. We never ask for your password to any live shopping platform.

Tracking

We don’t serve any advertisements in our products. However, we do run ads for our apps. To measure results and manage our budgets, we may collect data such as advertising identifiers, but only if you allow tracking when your device asks. You can change this at any time in your device’s settings.

Information We Collect

We sell In-App Purchases (as defined in our Terms) to our Services. When you make purchases through the Services, we process your payments through a third-party application, including the Apple App Store (together with any similar applications, “App Stores”). The third-party application may collect certain financial information from you to process a payment on behalf of Kilby Labs. That information includes your name, email address, address, and other billing information. We never receive your full card number.

When you use our products or services, some information about you is collected automatically:

• Logs – we may log information about your use of our products. This includes access times, features used, items priced and their results, and your IP address (stored in hashed form).
• Device – we may collect information describing the device you are using to access our products. This includes the hardware, model, operating system, version, device identifiers, and push notification tokens.
• Activity – we may collect information you enter in our products. This includes budgets, categories, items you mark as bought, and answers to in-app questions.
• Diagnostics – we may collect crash reports and performance data to find and fix problems.
• Cookies – cookies are small data files stored on your computer that help us improve your experience and our products.

Consumption Data

We provide App Store operators, such as Apple, with consumption data when they review your refund requests. For example, if you’re six months into an annual subscription, you’ve consumed 50% of your subscription.

If you would like to opt out and not have us share your consumption data with operators such as Apple, please email us at our Help page to start your opt-out. Please use a clear subject like “Consumption Data Opt-Out Request.”

The consumption data isn’t used for tracking purposes. It’s used solely to determine eligibility for refunds, in order to combat fraud.

How We Use Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve our products, including identifying items and estimating prices;
• Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our products;
• Detect, investigate, and/or prevent fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity; and
• Carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected.

How We Share Information

We share information with third-party vendors who help us provide our products. They may use it only to provide their services to us. They include:

• hosting and cloud providers, such as Google Cloud and Firebase;
• AI providers, such as OpenAI, Cerebras, Groq, Anthropic, and Deepgram, which process screen images, audio, and text to identify and price items;
• search and price sources, which receive the names of items being priced but not your account details;
• subscription management, through RevenueCat;
• analytics, through Amplitude;
• crash reporting, through Sentry; and
• advertising measurement, through Meta.

We may have to share information in response to a legal process or a request for information. We will do so if we believe disclosure is in accordance with any applicable law, rule, or regulation, or as otherwise required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.

Information may be shared in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company.

We do not sell your personal information.

Revisions

This Privacy Policy is subject to minor changes from time to time, in our sole discretion. We will notify you of changes by changing the date at the top of this page and, in some cases, by notifying you directly. We encourage visitors to check this page for any updates to stay informed about how we collect, use, and share information. Your continued use of our products after any change in the Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of that change.
